When I hear AI in the context of edutech, I immediately ask myself:
Is the motivation here to reduce expense by automating a human task?
or
is the motivation to extend access by enabling an adaptation or accommodation?
AI in service of increased profits
This perspective gets more promotion. IMHO, we should actively seek and discourage this motivation because it will result in decreased stakeholder value (ie students get screwed)
AI in service of increased value
AI can lower the cost of providing accommodations, increasing access by making it more feasible to adapt content.
